Faria 2(34) depth gauge - not a direct replacement for Standard Horizon DS41 etc.-gctid811172

    Hi,

I just heard back from a very nice chap working for Faria's UK distributor (ASAP-Suppliers). The 2" Faria depth gauge uses 235Khz transducer frequency rather than the standard 200Khz so they will never work with another manufacturer's transducer. I just added this as a library entry for anyone scratching their head as to why their new gauge won't work without the manufacturer's sender.

Just to finish off: the new 235 Khz transducer works really well. It is the puck type (thru hull) and I installed it in a bath of chainsaw oil (thick and sticky) on the dry side of the hull below the deck. The hull is at a slight angle but the puck has enough room to sit vertically in the bath. The oil is so thick that it doesn't move around much. I am quite pleased with the results.
