Thanks for the link I now have the owners manual.

I am going to have a major investigation this weekend and hope that I can find the solution.

The only issue I have is that the tank empties completely into the bilges, which is not a good thing.

If the carpet is glued down it really is a pity. However, since it's that new, it's probably still available. As far as what all has to come out, the quick answer is everything on top of it and anything on top of that. Personally, I'm not familiar with that model other that the link I attached.

In my experience it's fairly rare for a plastic tank to have a leak from just sitting there. There's no much of an issue of freezing unless you are way south in Tazmania, so, do you have a water level gauge? Could the issue be with the fill or vent hose? I'm sure you've looked at all this but I'm one of those guys that will bust my butt to confirm the source before pulling the tank. If it happens to be some place accessible, you may be able to spin glue a plug into the tank. It's a process that takes some skill, but it's how penetrations are installed in the first place. Just throwing out some ideas, I really hope one of them prevents you from having to rip the tank out.

Page 35 identifies the location as under the aft salon sole. http://bayliner.com/wp-content/uploa...Motoryacht.pdf

Thanks for that, it is the closest that I have seen.

    I have a 91 Avanti 3555.

Pity I have to pull the carpet as we just refurbished the salon including new carpet early this year.

Any idea how much of the interior I may have to rip out?

I did some looking around on the net and could only come up with the owners manual. http://bayliner.com/wp-content/uploa...anti-3485-.pdf

I'm guessing year and model and am hoping I'm close about page 32 is a drawing of the potable water system layout that leads me to believe that the tank is under the galley sole.....under the carpet I'm guessing. Some disassembly required. If you can find the access for your potable water pump, you should be able to see the tank. That said, the tank went in then the cabin sole was laid and carpeted. Then the furniture was brought in before the deck went on. So, like anything else, you have to dig your way down to the tank. Smile, it's worse on my 3818. However, before you start on the tank, make sure it's not a leaking water line or fitting. My previous boat had a fitting leak I didn't find in thirty years, it only leaked when the pump was on.

If you end up having to take the tank out, have the Admiral look at new carpet or other sole finish and plan the job looking at everything that has to be removed as an opportunity to update.

I do recommend getting an oscillating tool and a good battery (18v or bigger) drill driver. I use them all over the boat.
