    VR5 I/O Through Hull Transducer Installation advice-gctid807494

    Hi All,

Managed to pick up a good deal on a Simrad GO5 XSE with downscan transducer - looking for some advice from anyone with a VR5 that has installed a transducer inside the hull. Routing the cables wasn't too much trouble it's determining the location for mounting the transducer that's got me thinking.

Access in the engine bay is pretty tight so anyone that's already done a successful install and can offer advice - it would be greatly appreciated.

If you still haven't done the install I can take pics of where the factory puts it. I got my brand new 2017 VR5 last week.

Sorry for delay, just got it back from dealer who fixed half the things I wanted and didn't on others which he said were fixed.

Can you confirm something for me. My 07 175 had what was referred to as boat trim and trailer trim. Basically a two stage trim.

The throttle even show diagram of boat and boat on trailer. Push for normal trim and push harder (hear/feel click) and it would now fully trim up for trailering.

My 2017 VR5 has same control and I was expecting the same function and even the sales manager explained it as working as such. 2 stage

Mine does work as expected, it only has one stage and now the service manager said they only have one stage now.

Can you confirm this for me please or anyone reading with a VR5

My 185 was the same as you explain. Tried the VR5 today and although it has two stages i.e. You can click down and then click down further, the scond stage appears to do nothing (image attached).

The trim has been a bit of a change for me from the 185. Typically it would sit around quarter gauge on plane, the VR5 sits just off the bottom of the gauge at best. I took it back to the dealer and asked if they could check the setting - plugged it in to the CPU and everythng as normal. I would prefer a bit more of the gauge to work with but maybe just something I have to get used too. Interested to know where your trim gauge sits when on plane.

Great, thanks for confirming similar operation. It will be short while before I maiden as we just came out of a state of emergency for flooding here locally and my boat launch is still under water.
