    2858 bathroom faucet connections leaks-gctid807034

I'm replacing the the Whale bathroom faucet/showerhead combo unit on my 2858 and am having problems getting a water tight seal at the connectiing points of the hot and cold water feeds ( grey tubing with white plastic threaded female fittings) to the Whales' male plastic threaded fitting. Anything better that telfon tape?

Use teflon joint compound. Can be found in tube or bottle in plumbing department

In any hardware store.Put it on the ends of the grey tube.Putting it on the threads does nothing. The grey tube contacting the faucet is where the joint compound goes.

I decided to go back to plumbing successes i had before with braided stainless connection hoses. You can get them for connection faucets, toilets, wash machines etc. When I had used them in the past I had never had a leak. I went to home depot got two faucet stainless connection hoses, and bought two male/ male brass adapters (got some knowledgeable sales help to find the adapters), so that my connection hoses were simply stainless braided extension hoses - male on one end and female on the other. Telfon taped the brass adapter into the supply hose, make a loop with the stainless braided hose ( no telfon tape on braided hose connections as they have rubber gaskets) and connect on the faucet. No Leaks! What a relief, also the additional hose made for easier connections in the tight space.
