got a new 5.7 but no flywheel,does new flywheel have to be balanced before install

It should be balanced right out of the box. Of course you can always have it "fine tuned" if you like. Doubtful that any extra balancing is needed. We used to do that when my brother and I built some racing engines, but they were turning up to 12,000 RPM So unless you have some high rev plans...

Do you have the flywheel for your old engine? Or a starter? There are two sizes (153 and 16x tooth, I can't remember exactly how many the larger one has) if GM flywheel and they need to match. Either set will be fine, just so they match.
