i have the below engine/outdrive setup

1986 5.7 350 Chevy

volvo penta 280 outdriver

i just ordered a new manifold and it is on its there way. i am trying to get things ready for it but i have been looking for the repair manuel for my engine (for free) to get the right torque setup.

any chance some one here has the book and can look it up for me, or knows where i can get it in PDF.

I don't recall seeing Volvo Penta publish a spec for this, but I'll take a look later.

The female threads are cast iron.

The manifold to cylinder heads bolts are 3/8" NC.

The riser to manifold bolts are 5/16" NC.

Look up industry standard bolt torque specs, and see if there is a reference to the cast iron female threads.

The cast iron threads will be the weak link. These will be "cut" threads, not roll formed!

BTW, IMO these threads lend themselves nicely to the high temp Automotive Never-Seez products.
