    Battery Charger-gctid796995

    I have a 2001 3488 Bayliner Command Bridge.

I think this is a great Forum!

Anyone know where the battery charger is located?

I've replaced two 8D batterys, they just slowly discharge (charge lasts a month or so). Last one I replaced, the technician told me my battery charger is not working properly and would not provide warranty on the replacement battery until it is fixed.

So we've been looking for the battery charger to check it out.

I'm not sure where yours is but mine is behind the engine to the right in a cylindrical cover. I'm about to take mine off for inspection soon, I can post a pic if you want (just bought it last week). I'd assume if you look in that same area you'll find yours.

I can't help with the charger location, but you may want to consider going the charger/inverter route. I did that on my last boat and it worked out well. On my current boat I just finished installing a ProMariner 30 amp 3 bank charger. I had purchased a Prosport version from Amazon only to learn that it is designed for a bass boat type application. The folks at ProMariner were great when I called with an installation question for the wrong unit, explained what I needed and why, then offered a unit to me for less that I could find it elsewhere.

Just a follow-up for everyone's information on this model:

The battery charger is in the utility room on the wall next to the vacuum. Tough to get to so took it out and put the replacement 90 degrees and back about 10" mounted to the floor using "L" construction flanges. There is plenty of access room now and easy to see the smart LED status lights.

          Mine was a 15 amp,older model, 3 banks.

I replaced it with HD Promariner 20 amp 3 bank, smart charger, easy installation and instructions, works fine now.
