I'm going to install a couple amps to the stereo system. Should I connect the positive cable for the amp directly to the battery like in a car application or to the battery isolator switch ? Where is the best place to connect the negative cable ? The amps will be installed in the sleeping berth.

Either of those is fine. ABYC guidelines state that you should never have more than four terminals on a battery, but otherwise no reason not to. The battery switch is equally good. The negative probably should go to the battery, noting the guideline above.

Also, I'm 99% certain that your boat has huge power wires running to the helm. If I remember that correctly, then you could grab your power from there and avoid running lots of expensive wire all the way back. If by "sleeping berth" you mean the aft cabin, there's an easy and direct shot to the helm from the foot of the aft. On my 2455 I mounted the amps on the ceiling of the head end of the aft, and went through the bulkhead to the batteries.

Try to prevent from adding connections directly to your battery bank(s).

The "common" terminal at the rear of your MBSS is a good location for a power source......, but be sure to fuse protect it.

When the MBSS is turned off, so is this circuit.

The Negative can connect to your System Negative Common.... (I.E., engine block), or a remotely located Negative terminal block.

When we start adding circuits directly to battery banks, they eventully end up like this.

      Or this:

I have a shelf in the aft cabin that I mounted the amps. I guess I'll connect to the battery.

        Thanks guys
