HELP!! I have a problem with my trim. its a 1992 2755 5.7 mercruiser brovo 2 (I think) I put new trim/limit switches in. The tilt up and in both work fine. The trim will only go down. Nothing happens when I push the trim up. Would this be the switch in the controler or a bad wire?

Hi, I am no expert on this, but I too once thought that mine was not working to go UP. But what I discovered is that with the engine running, going slowly in forward, it works every time. Maybe yours is the same?

    good luck

Do you have a trailer switch too? If so and the drive is part way up it may be past the point where the up switch will work. To go the rest of the way you need to hit the trailer switch.

When I have all the way down it wont come up with the trim switch. If I lifrt it a little with the trailer switch I can drop it back down with the trim button. Trim will trim down but not up.

You said that you put a new limit switch on. Did you adjust it properly and make the right connections. For it not to work after you just added a new component I would suspect either a bad component or that something was missed in the installation.

Yup, your trim limit switch is doing it's job and limiting up movement. It needs to be adjusted.

Will give it another look but if it goes down shouldnt it go back up to some degree?

Not if the sensor on the outdrive is defective or not adjusted correctly. The sensor breaks the circuit when it reaches the trim limit.

Nope. Not if the trim sensor is adjusted so it is indicating that it is already to high.

Loosen the trim sensor and rotate it.

Separate question, how did you install them?

Mine went bad so I just cut the wires and jumped them. "Proper" installation requires removal of the outdrive. Way to much work for me just to install an idiot prevention switch.

                      Hi

Did it work before you put the new limit switch in ? Adjust it as per the manual, for now loosen the screws and turn it the opposite way.

Did you remove the drive? If you didn't and just made new connections then i would start there.

( my experience is with the alpha gen 2 ) if the Bravo is different then someone will chip in.
