    stereo mounting bracket-gctid392741

I'm replacing the factory Audiovox head unit that came with my 2006 185 with a JVC DIN style head unit. I've got the wiring figured out. I can attach the mounting strap to the rear of the unit. But I can't find a good way to mount the front of the unit.

The Audiovox had an oversized face plate with holes on either side for screws to drill right into the fiberglass and a Fascia that covered the screws.

Typical car stereo mounting brackets won't do the job. I've seen splash guards with lids that open. But I don't know if they will support the front of the head unit.

    Any thoughts?

Looking forward to some helpful responses, I just replaced the standard radio on my 185 with a Sony and have the same problem. Four little holes and a loose radio.

Try as I might I cannot get the 'cage' tight enough to keep the stereo from moving around.

Can't you just bend the tabs down to fit snug on the glass face?

I've done as much of that as I could, and it's relatively secure but it can still be wiggled back and forth a bit. Thinking about finding some very small self-tapping screws to drive thru the cage into the structure underneath the dash.

When I use to put these thing in cars, we would fab up a face plate template in diffrent thickness to take up the gap with the chasis frame mount; and mount it behind the face of material close to the tabs and bend them down on it to take up gap and looseness etc.. Then the rear strap and nut held the back if needed.
