    Temp Thru-Hull Plug?-gctid390744

I no longer need or wanter the seacock located below the waterline in the engine bilge and would like to go ahead and remove it just to get it outta the way. Until I can appropriately repair the hole using the recommended 12-to-1 grinding protocol then filling with 'glass layers and epoxy (unless there's a better way), does the industry make a plug (bronze, stainless steel, etc.) I can install temporarily until I can effect the permanent fix. Have done extensive net research to no avail. Thnx.

Close the valve, put a bronze or marelon plug in the seacock and forget about filling the hole.

BTW - you don't need to do a 12:1 grind out when plugging a hole - that applies to making repairs of either a break or long cut where you need to insure structural integrity is reestablished. You have plenty of structure for a 1-2" thru hull hole to be there or not be there (aside from keeping the water out of course).

Thnx for the quick reply and education on repairing 1-2" hull holes. I have several above-the-waterline thru hulls (shower, head & galley sink, anchor locker drain) I wish to eliminate, and being able to repair in these holes without having to 12-to-one each will certainly make the work go much quicker. Can you briefly describe how you would fill these holes if this were your boat? Thnx.
