uIve have 88 capri 1950 i got runing ran great startef with the hose on today and gave it some gas then heard a realy loud ratting / grinding noise coming from thr outdrivr iam pry sure its outdrive as if i turn it in the right stop it stops or if i put it down it will stop also sounds like the exhaust got louder to so maybe some with that iam no sure iam new to boating and do not kno much about it any ideas would be great thanks

i always start the boat with the drive down and straight while i have the muffs on. need more info what kind of drive and was it in gear or neutral. if in gear and drive up your universal joint binding up maybeweeps350 wrote:

Its a 3.0 with corba and in neutral

A couple of years ago mine did the same thing. The bearing inside the bell housing failed. I had to replace the bell housing. Mine would knock around it if was in gear or neutral. We thought it was u-joints but no luck.weeps350 wrote:

To replace my bell housing I had to pull my motor, which in my boat means taking part of the floor out. Once the motor is pulled it is not hard to replace. My outdrive is a volvo. I am not sure about yours.
