  • Where to buy ujoint bearings-gctid390396

I removed the ujoint bearings yesterday and am unsure where or what bearings to replacethem with. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also the upper housing has corrosion around the lip that the bellows attaches to. Is this fixable, usable as is, or should I look for another housing?

There are countless books that list the exact bearing needed for your UJoint. That casting could be fixed, but if you see one on Ebay, I would consider buying a clean replacement.

Lance, from looking at your photo, the universal shaft uses the internally clipped bearing crosses.

I use the Spice 5-1306X bearing cross for these. (it's an old Chrysler automotive application)

These are a dead-on OEM replacement, and are good 'ole Spicer quality.

You may hear that the 5-1306X is discontinued and that none are available.

This was apparently an inventory boo boo, and there are 1,400 in stock at a Spicer warehouse.

NOTE: look here..... you'll see a few errors listing the 5-1306X as externally clipped, and some with the zirk fitting in the bearing cap.

The correct 5-1306X is as pictured above.

If you purchase these bearing crosses from an Off-Road or Truck Drive Line service center, you can get them for around $14 or so each.

DO NOT substitute for a cross with the zirk in the bearing cap.

As for your Bearing Box clamping collar, if you suspect that it may leak, I'd replace it.

      Here are several on e-Bay......

Note: you can not use the "A" and later style integral aluminum BB.

You need the pre- "A" drive seperate clamping collar.

If you replace this collar, you must re-shim for the squeeze against the steel Bearing Box shoulder.

Thanks Rick and Craig, I've found the spicer bearing with that part number. What books, or online list, would I find cross references to the Volvo bearing? I'll be asking about replacement PDS bearings next :-)
