Trim Tabs -- Keep them or toss them?-gctid388881

I am entertaining the idea of removing my trim tabs and getting the holes in my transom patched. Since my new 48 horsepower engine will not provide enough horsepower to plane, I'm wondering if they will serve any useful purpose. When cruising at 7 or 8 knots, I have never had a need to use them. The only thought I have in favor of them is to use them as stabilizers; but whether a hull of my size can benefit from trim tabs for that purpose (and given the size of mine) is an idea worth discussing here.I currently see no difference in bow wonder, whether the tabs are up or down. Bow wonder isn't really a concern for me, because it completely goes away at 6 knots, and I can deal with it with minimal inconvenience at lower speeds. The admiral on the other hand, is not comfortable with it; so I would consider a wonder fin in the future. But that aside, the tabs have not helped bow wonder at all.I'd like to hear your thoughts on whether I should keep the tabs. Thanks in advance...

If they are still operational why would it hurt to keep them on until you can make a better decision.
