i had my annual boat detail done and now its time to maintain that shine. Is there really a difference between boat wash and car wash? when leaves and things get on the fiberglass it leaves little stains on the fibeerglass as well as bird droppings and spider stains. i just dont know if it is worth paying the extra money for the marine brand wash as opposed to normal turtle wax. if so what is the best and why?? Thanks

I have been using the West Marine brand, but recently found Simoniz Royale Marine Boat Wash super cheap at a surplus store. The ingredients are biodegradeable. Have not tried it yet, but will post a review when I do.

I agree with Bill - boat wash is more environmentally friendly and IMO it's best not to use an auto car wash with wax on a boat. West marine brand boat soap is inexpensive and works. But I would encourage you to also get a non skid deck cleaner like Starbrite or West Marine to have available. Nifty stuff to use on your non skid surfaces and for other stain removal. You won't believe how clean your non skid will get and on a 2855 you've got a fair amount of non-skid to clean. That stuff is my 'magic' cleaner - even gets the duck and gull poop stains out!

Thanks for the good advise. I never really thought about the environmental part. I do have non skid cleaner by star bright and it does work great but doesn't get the stains from the leaves out of the fiberglass. Was hoping there was a magic soap that would clean and wax my boat
