    Cooling system leak-gctid382466

Hey guys I have a little problem that I need some advice on. I have a 1990 Bayliner 2655 5.7 liter engine. I had it winterized last fall and assumed it was good to go for spring. Boy was I wrong. I noticed that several of the cooling hoses had been left disconnected, a problem that I resolved before launching. When I launched and started the engine, water stated to enter the engine bay. It was entering through a small pipe on the lower side of the port side of the engine. Not far from the oil filter. I notice that there is an identical pipe in roughly the same place under the starbord side of the engine too. The water continues to enter the bay while the engine is running, but once the engine stops after a couple minutes the water stops flowing too. My guess is that this is cooling water draining down out of the block. Obviously it should not be draining into the engine compartment. Since there are two matching pipes one on either side of the engine I am wondering if there should be a hose running between them that serves to equalise the collant pressure. Anyone have any thoughts?

Who winterized her? Go back to them and have them make it right......

From water pump, to the oil cooler, to the HE, to the risers if you have FW cooling. It looks like part 22.

Hi there thanks for chiming in. The excellant diagram you have seems to show the hoses on the top side of the engine. The two tubes that I am trying to identify are on the very bottom of the engine on either side of the oil pan. They point straight down and are about half way between the front and back. They are about 1/2 inch in diameter. If you have a diagram of the lower side hoses and if my hunch is correct you should see a hose going from one side of the block to the other.
