  • Any good heavy duty smell removers for carpet?-gctid377294

For some reason the helm carpet smells like b.o. (nasty body odor). I've used Simple Green and a pressure washer and it appears clean, but still has a stench. Stinking up my basement actually. Any heavy duty carpet cleaning agents you guys have found to rid carpets of stink?

If the stench is from organic material, try one of the Enzyme cleaners. These will bio-degrade the material that is causing the order.

You may need to give it several applications.

Perhaps a Pet Store or a Carpet Installers supply company.

We've had good results with removing some nasty pet odors with this stuff.

        Goofy name, but it works.

These guys have some great products.

Experts in complete cleaning solutions such as cleaning supplies, food service disposables, janitorial supplies, green cleaning, sweepers, autoscrubbers and pressure washers.

Just a suggestion but it would be handy if you included your location in your profile and posts.

            Rick,

You may want to keep this link for reference. As you know I restored a boat that had been submerged in salt water.

I used many of their products with great success especially their cleaners and deodorizers.

You mean that certain orders are worse in different areas of the U.S.? :kidding

If it's that bad..I'd trash it and start all over. You might mask the odor(s) for awhile..but they will come back.

I could be wrong, but if the source of the odor is organic, I believe that the enzyme cleaners rid the odor for good! Yes/No????

I use this every time my friends and I smoke cigars and drink whisky in the closed-up cockpit during winter. The next morning the place smells like a mix between a forest fire and a Tijuana whorehouse, but after some of this spray, the admiral says it smells like we just had bible study.

One more option. Check with a used car dealer. Often they take in cars from smokers, etc.... They use some type of "bomb". I'm not positive, but I think it's some type of liquid sodium hypochlorite (bleach) that is poured into an ammonia derivative that makes an off gas that'll kill any odor. The car dealers open the car hood, stir up the mixture, turn on the car heater/ac fan close the car door and put a battery charger on. The smoked up interior with circulating fan running is left for maybe 30 minutes and when it's done, it smells like a chlorinated pool for a couple weeks, but the odor is totally gone.

That's a very dangerous mixture, so I thought I'd comment that you shouldn't just go try this. It can be deadly.
