      Nice read. I just checked my boat and the dealer did not use the recommended base plate. Fortunately, I do have a large plate underneath to help transfer the load. I'll have to keep my eyes on them (three of them)... Looks like a change is on order for the future...

        Thanks, this is great info to bookmark. And I already can tell my through hulls don't have a base-plate even the factory installed once.

          lot's of good info and pictures, it looks like several of us have some "upgrades" to do to factory installed equipment
