I recently purchased a 1-owner '90 Ciera 2775. The owner had installed a Marine Air Conditioner - Coleman Sea-Mach 13,500 A/C Unit thru the first hatch...cools great at dockside. I was wondering if I could use a 2200 V..suitcase type generator to power the A/C while anchored at sea? Has anyone used one to power on-board accessories while "out among 'em"? Thanks

Be sure to check the total requirements to startup, and do not forget the 1 amp (120v x 1 amp = 120 watts) needed for the pump.

My Yamaha 2800 will not start my 1993 16000 btu A/C so a Honda 2000 which is only 1500 in reality definitely won't.
As the other reply suggested, best to try one first. Maybe you could rent one for a day from an equipment rental.

I looked into a soft start but not really worth the money. If this unit fails I will replace it with a modern 12,000 which should be plenty. I have seen 8,000 btu units do the job if given enough time. It's mainly at night that I need it anyway.
