    Standard Horizon GX1500E MMSI-gctid372441

    Hi,

I've been reading up on AIS as I've just bought a transponder and I've realised my DSC Radio has the previous boat owners MMSI number in it!

When I did my VHF radio course, many moons ago, there was no such thing as AIS about. Just plain VHF radio.

The problem is, how do I change the MMSI number in the radio without sending it away and paying someone else to do it?

There must be a way you can send it a command from a PC serial port for example.

    Anyone got the solution???

    Regards

    Paul

My radio allows one MMSI change before locking out. Yours may also, check it out. Maybe on the Mfg web site.

Check to see if you can change the data assigned to that mmsi #. In Canada you can contact industry Canada and change that info. I sold my 1st boat but kept the DSC radio to install in my new boat. I contacted industry Canada and changed the info on the # to reflect my new boat. The same as you would register change of address.

Remember mmsi is a registration #. If you can't change the # change the info.

Here is a link to the manual - http://www.anico.hu/products/specialis/GX1500E.pdf

Unfortunately the MMSI can only be set once or it has to go back to the factory. Don't know what the fee is but if the service / shipping is over $100 you might want to consider just buying another radio. This seems like planned obsoletion by Standard Horizon.

You guys seem to be missing the point. I want to know how the manufacturers reset it.

So I can do it myself.

The same reply was given about my AIS transponder but I've managed to do that one.

All Done now - It allowed me to change it. I don't know what I did wrong last time but ok now.

I must have needed a rest
