Comar CSB 200 AIS Transponder Programming-gctid372118

    Hi Everyone,

I have just been given a Comar CSB 200 AIS Transponder by my uncle.

The unit has been programmed with his boat and Radio details.

Although the CD was scratched that came with the unit, I have managed to download proAIS software

and I can change ALL the stored information except the MMSI Number.

Reading the manual, it says this number can only be input once and to change it you need to contact your dealer. Does anyone know a way I can change this number or atleast a dealer than can do it for me with a quick turnaround?

I've scoured the internet and found nothing relating to this.

    Cheers chaps!

They're all firmware locked. There is a boot sequence that will drive the unit back to it's out-of-box state, but it's against Federal law for them to share how to do that. There should be a radio repair shop that could do it for you though, or send it back to Comar and they'll enter your new data in. The Software you need to do it is called proAIS. You can download it, but to change the MMSI, the unit will need to be reset.

It's the MMSI number I need to change too.

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset?

I can send it off to be done by comar but its gonna cost me £45 + P&P for the pleasure.

open the case up and take the memory battery out for a few minutes. That should reset it back to factory specs

Thanks for the advice, I've taken the off and there isn't anything in it that resembles a battery, are you talking from experience

or was this a wild guess?

Sorry if that was a bit forward, tact is not in my nature

            Sorted it.

There's a couple of commands you send the unit using proAIS and it sets it back to factory defaults!

This allows you to enter the MMSI number.

            Working great!

Cool, I'll try that with my radio.

As for the AIS transponder, typing a couple of commands is a lot easier.

                Works great.
