You have the old Merc switch..... probably similar to this one.

IN = drive down in trim mode.

OUT = drive up in trim mode.

If all is working, the center and top buttons (UP and UP) simultaneously, gets you UP and into "trailer mode".

      Side note:

Extend the lift of your bellows by rasing the drive no further than need be.

So if im understanding correctly, "in" is towards the boat, "out" is away from the boat. So this is my main trim up/down controls? Then if im pulling to shore i first push the "up/out" (middle) button. Then when i get closer to beaching it i push the "up" (top) button and its like a jack-plate and brings the whole drive vertically towards the swim platform? Then if this is true, how do i get the drive back south? Am i on the right page? Again i apologize, im sure im way too much thought into this, shouldnt be this difficult... thanks for all your help

1.... Yep! IN as in "In the water".... OUT as in "Out of the water".

2... If memory serves me, the center button keeps the drive within the "trim" mode.

I believe that both buttons need to be pushed for "Trailer" mode.

3.... For me to know which way South is, I'd need to know which way the boat is facing! :kidding

Just kidding you......, I believe that the "IN" button button will take the drive from "trailer" mode back to full in mode.

Just play with them...... if all is working, you'll figure it out faster than we can post back and forth on the forum here.

Perhaps pull the harness connector apart and look for corrosion.

Make sure that the relays are both working.

Unless this drive is old enough to not use the gimbal bell trim indicator and limit switches, there shoud be a limit switch to the side of the Gimbal Bell that prevents trim mode from going into trailer mode.

          They will look like this.

One will be the trim indicator sender.... one will be the limit swich.

The limit switch must be working for the system to go into trailer mode.
