    Starter problem, Force 120 O/B-gctid558248

Filled the bucket and went to fire up the motor yesterday. Bendix jumps up for a second or two then drops back down and spins. Pulsing the ignition gets enough momentum in the flywheel to get her going, then it runs fine. Suggestions?

I had this issue with mine too. I removed the starter and tore it down. Cleaned the brushes inside, made sure the brushes are making solid contact and greased it in a few areas. I found there was a little corrosion on the surface where the brushes contact the motor. Plus there was a bunch of black gunk in there. It is really easy to tear down and there are not a lot of parts in there.

After that it started great for another 2 years and then I sold the boat. Sure beat buying another starter.
