The wires to my tilt/trim sensors on my alpha 1 gen 2 were destroyed so I just cut them off rather than spend the 150 to replace the sensors. I have heard that I can put a jumper wire in somewhere to make the up button work. Anyone know where this jumper should go?

Also, the trailer button doesn't always cause the motor to engage. Sometimes it does fine but sometimes the motor just makes a click noise then nothing happens. I'm not sure if this is a different problem or related to me cutting the wires to the sensors.

You can put a jumper on the wires that lead to the trim limit switch. I don't remember for sure, but they should be near your trim pump, and I think they are purple. You will unplug the black wires that go to the sensor, then jumper the other two back together. This will completely bypass the limit, so you will need to be aware of your drive position as to not damage something by trimming too high while running. I did this on mine until I could get new sensors put on. As far as the clicking, it sounds like the solenoids are either going bad, or could be corroded a bit. Mine did that once in a while until it got some use, then has been working great since.

Here is a wiring diagram of what I think your looking for. These are the selenoids on the pump itself. This is a test procedure and uses a jumper cable what you want to do.

As for your trailer switch sometimes working, it is a bad connection somewhere on these selenoids. You will have to clean the connections. May just as well clean them all while you are at it.

For my money I would not do this. I would fix the trim switches and clean all the connections and your good to go. Out drive repairs will cost you big time, more than the price of trim switches. Just my thoughts.
