my 1994 2655 has a mercruiser 5.0 lx with alpha drive. i think the prop is stock. seems that 3-4 yers ago i could get her up to 4500 rpm and 35+ mph. now i top out at 3500 rpm's and about 30 mph. she planes just fine. i have added some weight with a 9.9 honda kicker on the port stern and probably another 100-150 lbs of gear, fishing tackle, 3rd battery, inflatable kayak, air compressor etc. i know this question isn't science, but approx what speed should i top out at, rpm's and mph. just approx as i know there are alot of varibles. thanks

Likely the additional weight and some hull growth is holding you back. A 5.0 mercruiser WOT RPM is 4600 to 4800, so this indicates you have too much prop pitch for the weight. The speed of the boat is secondary to having proper WOT RPM.

With 350 Alpha and I top out at 32. Consider yourself lucky. Fresh bottom no growth.

Your RPM's are now too low. Spec is 4200-4600RPM's.

You may need a prop change. But before doing that make sure the engine is in tune, bottom is clean and the prop is not damaged.
