I just removed mine and there wasn't any kind of sealant or rtv... just a gasket. Hope that helps!

Since you have not created a BOC signature, nor provided any engine/drive info, I have to assume that this is for the Hurkledozen Engine with the GLOscBarr risers. In which case you will use peanut butter between the two surfaces. Tighten accordingly.

How bout a tad bit of info?

      Edit:

Here's an update on Dan's into.

With HGE manifolds and risers, system was new 6 years ago has always been in fresh water, Thought i would remove the risers to clean and check everything looks real good,But honestly i think peaunut butter is the way to go if i get lost at sea i can remove the risers and make a peaunut butter sandwich,

      Thanks as always Dan

Maybe he has a case of the Mondays!

PS. Rick, I don't mean anything by it... I got called into work at 1am this morning... so I'm a little bit sleepy! :-)

I use gasket sealer on the green gaskets and none on the grey carbon gaskets.

I use the silver gaskets (stainless & graphite) and put them on dry and re-torque after 5 hours of running.Never have a leak.

Everyone is assuming Dan has Mercruiser manifolds. What happens if he has OMC or Volvo or is using some off named brand of manifolds? This is what Rick is illuding to in his statement.

Before we start giving Dan advice regarding sealant on the gaskets we really need to know the manufacturer of the manifolds and gaskets.
