    Old Transducer-gctid362233

The original transducer that came with the boat (I believe) is an inhull hockey puck no way of knowing make or model. I was curious if could cut the cable, put a NMEA connector on it and hook it into my NMEA 2k backbone and have it work on my Garmin Chartplotter? I will add a garmin thru hull transducer but probably not until next year when I pull her out for bottom cleaning.

It will not work. You still need a depth sounder (black box) to read the data from the transducer. Garmin makes several GSD 22, GSD 24, & GSD 26. The beauty of these is once it is in your NEMA backbone you can have as many displays as you want.
