I want to reinforce my 2452 swimstep with a couple of additional stainless steel brackets, but I can't find them anywhere. I borrowed a picture from one of GoAweigh's posts (hope you don't mind, Doug) post showing what I'm after.
If you look closely at the center bracket you will see that it is simply stainless steel tubing flattened at the end and bent to the correct angle, with holes for the screws drilled in the flattened part.
Quite easily made if you have a vise and a hammer, at least that is how I made mine
The other two appear to be using the type brackets that are used for bimini tops. the also appear to be flattened and bent for the top end.
The stantions for the swimstep on my boat were manufactured using standard fittings and tubing that you can get from your local marine supply. The ends and brackets are commonly used to make bimini frames.
Thanks for the info... I was looking for a package deal, but it sounds easy enough to assemble my own. I think I found the fittings and rail at West Marine.
The best place I found to buy the steel tubing was from my canvas guy. I used a vice to collapse the ends and screwed one end into the transom with lots of 5200 and bolted the other end into the swim step. No need to buy the parts you see in the photo that came with the swim step...

Which is what Bayliner did on some of the larger boats, which is where I got the idea
Both have a ton of boat stuff you can not find thru the normal channels.
