    Sloppy Throttles-gctid359107

I'm sure this has been addressed before but I searched Technical Forum and couldn't find anything.

The bridge throttles on my 3218 are real sloppy, not even, and the starboard handle had a good inch and a half

play in it. Can these be adjusted?

Not real happy with the controls anyway. Would I see any advantage swapping them for Morse Twin S controls?

Don't know which controls you now have, but it's interesting that you'd mention the Morse Twin S.

While some look at the Twin S as being "Old School", they're pretty darn hard to beat.

There is a Morse Twin SR control that looks very similar to the Twin S...... be sure to not confuse the two. The Twin S is far superior.

    Here's a Twin S.

There is no removable cover. Only the little plate that covers the stop adjustments.

Here's the Twin SR that looks similar, but can be problematic.

The cover lifts from this one while the unit remains in place. The underside mechanics are different.

Thanks Rick.... The orginal controls I think are UFlex controls. I don't like the way they are now, but may be able to oil them up and adjust. The throttles aside from slop are very difficult to make minor throttles changes. I have to bump them with the heel of my hand to get them to move.

Rick, the Uflex can be problematic.

The screw pattern is slightly different, so in order to use the Twin S, an adapter plate will need to be made. Very simple and worth the effort, IMO.

Roger that, but for now is there a way to adjust the slop out and even them up a little?

The Uflex uses the Morse 33C cables that have the circular groove in the cable jacket metal portion.

The cable clamp has a stop-bump that fits into this groove.

Check the cable clamps at each control cable.

Also look at the cable end fittings.

Some used a clevis and pin style, some used a typical Morse style.

The slop that you describe is not normal....., even for the Uflex.
