    1989 3288 guage lens replacememt-gctid356454

    Hi all, summer is approaching!!

A friend wants to replace the lens' on all his fly bridge guages. He is not interested in trying to recondition them, he wants all new. Now I have heard that faria does a lifetime warranty ... but we are up in Canada ... is it the same here? Anyone found cheap lens' online for the larger tachs and smaller guages.

    Cheers,

I had looked that same issue up on the Faria website a couple of years ago, and came to the conclusion that they would deal with Canadians the same was as clients in the US. A quick phone call to them would certainly set the record straight.

Make sure you look me up when you are in Little Current this summer.

I ran through this problalm a couple of years ago. Faria no longer makes those gauges and so cannot replace them. I tried to just replace the glass lenses but the markings are incribed on the back of the glass so you need the original lenes. Occassionally there are some on the Greatlakesskipper.com web site but most people end up having to get an entirenew set of gauges. Great Lakes has some used ones that are technically and aesthetically good s replacements.

My earlier comments were about the "Star Wars" gauges and not the later round gauges.

This issue has been around a long time on this site. Several years ago members reported getting replacement lenses from Faria for the newer round gauges. However, I attempted to do the same thing and was told that the gauges from the 90's were obsolete also and no lens replacements were available. I then read a post that a member got his gauge lenses replaced. That was a year or so ago. So, I again tried that, calling Faria. I was again told No Lenses Available for the early 90's............I finally gave up and will try to "polish" them out like some others have done.

I have the round gauges with the square bezels.

The tachs are 4" and all the others are 2". Here's the email I got from West Marine when I ordered replacement lenses and bezels in 2010 (I think his prices were incorrect but they were still inexpensive):

                  Hello Kare

The Faria parts that you have inquired about are available from West Marine as a special order.

                  BZ3177 Bezel $4.00 ea.

                  CY1145 Lens $8.00 ea.

                  BZ0084 Back clamp $2.00 ea.

                  CY1144 Lens $8.00 ea.

When I contacted Faria I was given the description of the BZ0084 as a back clamp not a bezel. You may wish to verify this before you order these parts. When you are prepared to order just let me know with a daytime telephone number. I will contact you to get all the necessary information to process your order.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Interesting these look like the same guages as what I have on my 1990 Sunray.

When we bought our boat the lenses on the upper helm were quite yellowed. I just worried away at them with 3M Cleaner Wax and they look almost as good as new now.
