    light switches on 45-gctid355657

Ok a few mystery questions for you long time 45 owners. The compnionway light down to the staterooms worked once or twice when we first closed but darned if I can get it to work again. I replaced the bulbs thinking perhaps that was it. Which light switches on other 45's turn on the hall light? I "think" it is the 2nd switch down on the switches set on the outside edge of the galley, yes? The 3rd switch (out of 3) on that area is fixed and won't move...I assume it is just a blank?

the switch that is 2nd down from top in the bunk bed stateroom also does not seem to do anything and nor does the 4th switch down in the master stateroom. I assume perhaps both of those also turn on the hall light?

We want to upgrade the hall light but for now I will settle for figuring out how to get it to work! :arr

On our 89, the fourth switch down on outside edge of the galley turns on the companionway lights. It's also the fourth switch down in the master stateroom that turns on the companionway lights. The switches do go bad, I have had to replace a couple over the years.

take your switch out of the wall and look for crusty or green around the slide on connections that could be the problem if so clean them with contact cleaner and a small wire brush if that does not work ...to find out if the switch is faulty try putting the 2 wires togeather if the lights come on its the switch gone bad inside what you can not see ....but first make sure you have 12 volts to the system .........hope this helps

Ditto on the location of the toggle switches, but I find usually the ballast in the light actually goes bad. Also, check and make sure there isn't an extra toggle switch on the light fixture. I have one at the end of one of my fixtures.

not sure if the 45 switches are the same as my 38 but I suspect they are.. Remove the panel and look for a model number on the switch, mine were made by Carling and is called a rocker switch; SPST 16A 125V.. They are $1.43 each but shipping was about $7 if I remember right.. I would buy a handful of them at once and keep them in your tool box..

If that is not the exact switch you are looking for just enter the model number from your switch (should be on the side of your switch) in the search window at the link below..

                hope that helps..

I have a 1990 4588 and the switch to the companionway is the third one down. If yours is stuck, its probably a bad switch
