Has anyone purchased one of these? Any problems? Marketed by Lowrance, B&G, Simrad.

Reading about them it seems that since the power output is so minimal that you could mount it anywhere. On my 38xx I could get rid of the radar arch mount and relocate to the bridge cowling. I realize that the higher up the radome is the greater the distance that a target can be seen. With a 36 mile range I don't think you would lose much since the curvature of the globe is also a limiting factor. The 3G is another option.

Would there be any hazards to shooting through your body with a bridge cowling mount? Manufacturer says no. I currently have a Raymarine R-20 (old 1988) with magnetron and I am always nervous when someone comes unto the bridge and hit stby so they don't get drilled throught their eyes.

    Appreciate any feedback/opinions/experiences. Thanks.

That was a good article about this interesting new technology.

It sounds like a very viable technology for folks that would be in the 18" raydome market for their radar.

What will be really cool is when they get it set up as competition with the existing larger radar market.
