Do you (or anyone for that matter) have a good email address for Earl Sommerville? I am trying to purchase a set of the remote oil filter sets but when I sent an inquiry to Earl's email address ([email protected]) it came back as not deliverable.
Thank you for any help you can provide

The remote filters are an interesting idea, but I prefer the original design as the filter size is quite large compared to some remote filters. I figure I have to crawl into the starboard side anyways to clean the centrifugal filter so I might as well change the main filter that way. I've never had a problem draining the main filter before removing, and I get Hino filters from my local Hino truck dealer 6 at a time.

What about the O rings? Are the same as OEM included with the filter? I bought some Hino filters but the O ring was not the correct one and had a massive leak on start up. Bought 4 O rings from NHD.
I get my oil & fuel filters from NAPA. The oil filters come with all necessary o-rings. I agree with James- the filter cartridge Hino uses is extremely large and you have to service the centrifugal filter anyway. Although I have an additional hatch that lets me drop down right in front of the starboard filter area. Anyone can add this if you don’t have the optional sink/counter at the starboard aft salon location.
Shanghai, I too would like to know more info that you got from Earl. it might be very helpful to others if you shared the directions and info given to you by Earl. Thanks in advance!

I have the set from Earl and the installation instructions are quite clear insofar as to how to do the actual conversion.
I haven't discussed this with Earl yet but where you actually mount the remote filters is pretty much up to how you plan on dealing with them. In my case I am thinking of mounting the filters on the inboard vertical stanchions outboard of the generator so they can be easily accessed from the outside deck hatches for servicing.
its still winter and colder and windier than Billy Hell here in Juneau so this project is on hold until Spring shows up (whenever that might be.
Once I get the install done and the system working as it should I will take some photos and post them for you guys.

Shanghai - Do you mean like this? I'm just at the point where I'm ready to drain the oil, and do the conversion. I mounted this today - it's quite a chore climbing all over the place but hopefully in the end it'll be just a bit easier.
This is a pretty sweet setup. I have been thinking about relocating the oil filters but the idea of mechanically changing the oil as well? I might have to invest in this. I'm just not sure where I'd mount it in an already cramped 3288 engine room.
