    Portlight Covers

I could use a couple more portlight covers. The original maker, Fabriform, is not interested in restarting the line, and other plastic manufacturers are not too interested. Are there any geniuses out there who could give it a try with a 3D printer? Is it feasible? Are there others who could use another cover? Thx, Bruce

Contact SomeSailor. He could create a mold on his CNC Router and he has a vacuum forming unit that he could produce these pretty easily. You would most likely want to buy a complete set for your boat so that they all match as it would be difficult to match if that specific pattern and color is not available still.

I don't know if he would want to take this on, but worth asking him. If he does it could be a good source for everyone else here too.

I'm sure a bunch of folks on BOC could use a few or more and might be interested in case you find someone that would do a certain minimum number . I would be interested.

If someone was willing to send me a sample I could digitize it up and see what I could come up with. Looks like a pretty simple vacuum molded part?

If we get this done, I would love to place an order for 4788.

I need 3 but would take 4 to have a spare.

With the weather here in the PNW, I haven't had a chance to get Mike one of mine to see what he can do. I will try to get one to him after this last wave of snow passes.

Maybe bring one to a 3D printer who can copy?.

A funny thing occurred for me. I was searching for a port light screen. I was also missing the cover but not concerned as much about that. One day I pulled the drawer off the slices that goes under the helm seat and low and behold under there the screen and cover! May behoove checking in places like that in case a previous owner stashed them somewhere.

Similar experience here. A few months ago someone posted something about the hidden spaces on these boats. He pointed out the cubby behind the 3rd cabin’s headboard on his 4087. News to me. I took a look in mine and there they were, all the screens and porthole covers for the entire boat, in new condition. Sorry, they’re not for sale.
