    Gross tonnage

Looking for what people have on there documentation for gross ton for 3988? I came up with 26, but think that is low

Our USCG documentation indicates 21 gross tonnage and 17 net tonnage for our 4087.

Can anyone educate me on how tonnage is calculated, and the difference between gross and net? Thanks-

I just googled it because I realized I did not know the difference either. This seems to be a great explanation ...... https://www.gjenvick.com/OceanTravel...Explained.html

Thank you, I found the site that I can put in the name of the boat and see the documentation, so I went to yacht world and found names of 3988 to put in. almost all of them was 22 gross tonnage.Boats with an aft cabin where considerably more in gross tonnage, probably because of the free board height.

Interesting link about Gross tonnage etc. I have a 4087, obviously with an aft cabin, how come it doesn’t weigh more than a 3988?
