    3870 Flybridge Windshield Broken

We had some extremely windy conditions here in Victoria over the past couple weeks and today I made the unhappy discovery that the windshield up on my flybridge completely shattered; not exactly sure when it happened. It's a write-off, completely broken into many different pieces. I don't imagine I'll be able to replace that piece, it looks like it was a huge single piece of smoked plexi-glass. Just wondering about a couple things:
    1. Was there anything I could have done to prevent this?
    2. I'm eventually going to have to completely re-do my flybridge furniture and controls. Anybody have any ideas about replacing the windscreen with something at the same time?
    3. Do you think driving around without the windshield will damage my canvas enclosure?

I really don't think driving around without the windshield will damage your canvas enclosure. You should be able to get a new one made up by a good plexi-glass shop. Not sure just how much it would cost

There is a business that makes new windscreens for the 3870's someone here should be able to post the info.

You will notice an increase in wind in your face without it.

I replaced my 3870 flybridge venturi from Boaters Discount in La Conner
Give them your HIN number.....and the replacecment will fit exactly right into the original screw holes
              about $700 or $800 bucks
They might source from Middy.....but easy to deal with

Oh wow, thanks guys, didn't think an actual replacement would be an option. Guess I'll give those guys a call.

I tried many custom plastic shops and they all turned up their nose at the work. You need the molds for the level of complexity (their words) of the multiple bends. I have a good half of one laying around in my garage. I better hold on to it.
It's a crap design and prone to getting broke.
