Hi, wondering what this hose line from the shaft seal to the engine is for. Bayliner 3270 1986 VolvoPenta BB225 B Boats wrapped up, just got it, haven't had much time to go over everything yet being winter here.
It’s to provide cooling water to the shaft and seal to prevent heat build up that can damage them. A worn seal can be replaced but if the shaft is scorn the new seal won’t seat against it properly.
Hi Mike, Thanks, after I posted this it dawned on me how it worked . My old sailboat shaft seal had that option(PSS shaft seal) It didn't connect to the engine due to low rpms etc, just a looped tube to allow some water to get in. Thanks again.
