Lenco Oil Coolers, Zinc Anode, or Not.

Are the Lenco oil coolers used with the Hurth 630 gears supposed to have zinc anodes? Or just a drain plug?

    Hi Brian
Zincs in the oil coolers are their to protect the oil cooler.the cooler will last longer with zincs, about 2 or so extra years,my opion is to replace them ( non zinc) coolers every 5 years.
better safe than sorry don't ask me how I know.... Good luck Brad

I check/replace as required my oil cooler and generator heat exchanger anodes at least annually. I have to trim the anodes to fit for length, but that’s not difficult.

        Hi Pete
The problem with "check/replace" does not always work, they can look great on the out side,no scale, rust, even changing zincs, however if it develops an internal oil leak it will pump transmission oil out the exhaust in the blink of an eye and fry a transmission unless you have a pressure or temp.gauge on your transmission as most do not that's why I replace mine at 4/5 years (no zincs) and 7 (w/zincs).
