So as it’s going to be dull boating weather you have to find things to do. Wondered if any of the 57/52 owners would be up for a meet up at some point in the new year. Puget Sound somewhere could be a marina. Could be on anchor. Of course open to any boats but curious to meet up and chat with other 57 owners compare notes. Check our boats. Drink beer
Hey Simeon.... I’m in!!! I have to haul out the very beginning of the year, but should be back in th swing of things by February some time... just in time for my birthday...
let me me know when ya want to get together, buddy...
Definitely post place and date. We're scheduled for a haul out of the 14th and if ready by your date, we will tag along. Would love to get more feedback from 5788 owners!
Gig harbor’s public dock installed new gfi power last year sometime, too...and it honked me up, as something on my boat triggers the circuit no matter what I try. I’ve checked all the connectors and input wiring for resistance and replaced whatever was even remotely questionable and it did nothing to improve the issue. I heard it has something to do with how some older inverters are internally grounded, though I have heard that newer boats are having problems too, so I think it can be a fairly complex issue, or at least a maintenance nightmare.
Though I like having 50amps hooked up, I can get by with just the 30amp service, normally. As such, I figured the cheapest way to get things to work with the new power circuits is to isolate my 30amp shore power input . This eliminates all the headaches associated with the new dock power as it completely separates the systems. I was going to isolate the 50amp input, too, but the cost jumped from about $600 to a few thousand.
I believe Poulsbo just replaced all electrical and removed the 50 amp all 30 now on GFI. may have problems with electric heaters.
We're attending the Poulsbo Winter Rendezvous this weekend and will find out if our electrical systems trips the dock breaker. If so at least we have diesel heat and can get comfortable sleep. I spoke to our resident mechanic and he said many issues are popping from the GFCI marina upgrades. Fingers crossed our boat passes the test and we can have uninterupted shorepower.
Blake Island has great power with each pedestal wired with separate legs of 30a 120v. So a pigtail provides 50a of 240v.
Blake is usually empty in the winter time with room for lots of boats.
Bremerton (although a short trip for me) has the best power of them all with lots and lots of availability. We could all line the breakwater and have power/view and a 20’ wide dock with a huge pop up tent to boot!
