    3288 engine compartment light switch

Hi - I have a 1992 3288 I just bought. During the survey, the engine compartment light was turned on. Now I can't find the switch to turn it off. Any pointers on where this thing is? Thanks!

the switch should be on the lower helm.

Mine is at the lower helm close to the navigation light switch and others.

Same on mine and I would recommend changing it for an illuminated switch. It's so easy to forget the light is on in the engine room and draining the battery.

It's labelled "engine" and is located on the lower helm as suggested. I replaced a few of these switches with illuminated toggles so I know when they're on.

+ 1 billion on illuminated switches. Any car store has them.

This is embarrassing, but must admit, that I do not know everything about my 1992 3288. Had no idea there was an engine compartment light. Went to the boat today just to look for a light and switch. The switch was right there, never noticed it. Then I go looking for the light fixture. After bending and struggling found it. The light fixture doesn't light up despite the position of the switch. So it must be the bulb, (possibly the wiring.) I'm straining my neck to look up at the fixture thinking to open it up, maybe remove the thing and replace with a fluorescent or LED. Question: what is the trick to open the lamp or remove the cover of the fixture?? Thanks.

Just squeeze the sides of the plastic cover. I it held on there by two tabs on either side. I replaced that fixture with an LED strip. Provides more light and uses less power.

buy this light fixture and fit it with a 12V 8 watts LED bulb and you'll turn your engine room into a Versailles palace for only 0.6 amps.

Was thinking a 24" fluorescent but your suggestion might be even better. How about an LED in the existing fixture? Thanks.

This fixture is water and vapor tight. Good for an engine room.

I RE purposed my fixtures in the galley with LED strips. They work great. I wouldn't bother with fluorescent.

I have the same issue. Replaced the fixture with an LED version but it won't turn on. Mine had a switch at the fixture. Didn't know some have a switch at the helm. Maybe I missed it. Hope it's not wiring.

This might sound dumb but where is the Light fixture located in the engine compartment.

Mine is somewhere above the bilge between the two hatches.
