Met up with some fun waves...-gctid827142

Heading south from Seattle on Friday night. Small Craft in place in the sound. Was pretty rough after just leaving the locks, thankfully it calmed down for the rest of the run after about 30 minutes.

took a bit of a pounding though and suffice it say, the boat needs a wash....

    Where did you end up?

We headed north to Langley Friday morning and were met with 3-4' seas near Possession Point, we saw a beautiful 5788 heading south and was taking a beating riding against the waves.

We have yet to make it to Tacoma but is on our list this Fall boating season. Seeing that 5788 pummel the waves was very impressive, congratulation on owning a beautiful boat!

I was impressed with Tacoma. Always been a bit dubious as the waterway is so industrial but we arrived with a welcome pack on the dock super clean and friendly marina and was just $60 for the slip. Which is a rarity!!

Restaurants and bars are a quick walk and we had a ton of fun, interesting how friendly everyone was. Seemed different to Seattle

Wow man..thanks for posting that. We all love to see "Yachts in big waves" lol. I think I've seen about every Youtube video with that title or close to it We headed out to Kingston about a month ago and it was blowing 25 out of the NW so it was straight down the pipe!! I was pretty impressed at how well the boat handled the waves. I didn't plan very well for it though as the lake was pretty calm so I had my side windows on my fly bridge enclosure up and man..that was a B to get those closed with a big wind against me! A lot of water was displaced just like in your video. It's pretty impressive with wave spray flying OVER the boat! My son came to the flybride door and said "Yah dad I'm gonna play Xbox" I think that was his way of saying...I'm pretty nervous for this so I'm going to keep my brain busy (he's 11)!

BTW - I saw you late this summer. I was rafted to the small lock wall and you were drifting waiting for the locks to open up (you likely went in next). Sharp looking boat! Tacoma is on our list too. How long did/does it take you to get there assuming you have good weather?

Derek. I hear you doing anything like closing windows is tough when you are getting pounded by waves.

Our flybridge is totally enclosed but I still got quite a lot water coming in and our door to the pilot house was open. Very wet carpet down there. I also realized the gaps I have in my pilot house doors. Took some water in there too needs some adjusting to get them snug me thinks.

It took us about two hours to get from the locks to the Tacoma dock. Running about 13 knots most of the way. Much easier when we got alongside Vashon.

If you see us again on the water give us a shout on 16. Always good to chat with like minded boaters !

By the way i'm The same with the you tube videos. Watched all of them many over and over. I have one of our 3587 diving it's bow into the waves and it has 17k views now. Lots of wave watchers out there I guess

              Safe boating !...

I guess we were lucky to skip all the wind. We went to Langley Saturday morning, had millpond flat water all the way from Everett. We did some crabbing along the way, stayed a night at Langley, saw 3 beautiful Meridians at the outer dock, and left on Sunday afternoon.

Great timing on your part, did you have any luck catching keepers? That was us on the outer dock in the tiny Bayliner 3788 in front of the 2 Meridian 411's. We hit 20kt westerly winds coming back into Possession but it finally calmed down once we passed Madison. Fun weekend at Langley.

I would hate to have been in the same conditions simbad showed on his video!

To my mind, the three boats at the outer dock looked like triplets, bet they can take any weather conditions the same way, it's just some of them were built after 2009

Crabbing was OK, we did not really push it, pulled 3 pots one time after 2 hour soak, got 5 keepers and called it a day.

Had a late lunch at Prime Bistro followed by late crab dinner... absolutely great weekend.

Haha Glen. That post made me think about where crabbing was open. Always forget admiralty inlet is open in fall. Might just have to head out. Got a good catch out there last year around thanksgiving.
