The first generation 3788's had an upper cabinet over the counter; the second generation 20xx's have no upper cabinet and limited galley storage. Has anyone retrofitted a later model 3788 by adding an upper cabinet for storage? Has anyone modified the cabinets in a later model 3788 to increase the stove from a two burner to a 3-burner with oven? Looking for a 3788 and so far it looks like I will go with the older one due to the galley limitations of the later models. Thoughts?

We looked at first and second generation 3788 and ended up buying a first generation one because of the storage space and the price. Note that the second generation boats have a shorter LOA (no anchor pulpit) and fit in smaller slips.

Thanks for the heads up. The first generation boats I've looked at so far need a lot of catch up on deferred maintenance. I actually prefer the first generation for the reasons you mention. It looked like there was a second generation boat at a reasonable price I was thinking of modifying but I learned today that it has a pending offer.
