We used to see "I LOVE NY" often cruising the north shore of Long Island - saw them at Manhasset Bay and all the way out to Mattituck maybe a dozen times.

But that was maybe 10-12 years back , I think the owner(s) had something to do with the prosecutors office in Nassau county if memory serves mew well.

Those owners seemed very nice and used the boat and looked like they took good care of most of it.

Does not look very good at all now - unknown where and what happened in the many seasons since it was cruising the north side of Long Island.

Oakdale in inside the barrier island on the South shore.

Really low price - hard to tell what it all needs without a visit.

Looks like a project boat for those that have the time and talent for such projects.

Checking the seller it appears this might be some sort of dealer and not a direct owner sale. The seller has listings for 3 boats at the same time.

An exaggeration for sure. And I have limited experience looking at them - seven so far.

The saloon headliner below flybridge seating; staining at fwd corner galley; staining at flybridge overhang, and other areas. Looks like a lot of water got in.

Some I have seen deck coring was obviously gone, house sides sounding very dull.

Specs say 25 hp Hino. Don't think there were used in 4550 - but could be wrong. Engine color seems wrong for 250 also. 175 hp?

A lot more than TLC I think.

The boat has what looks like stock 220 Hp Hino's - EH700 TA .

I have no idea what shape the boat is in now but was happily cruising the LI sound 10 years back.

I guess a phone call or a trip would clear up some of the concerns.

There are always posts about how folks will buy these rougher boats at lower dollars as projects but I have never actually heard back from anyone that did that.

Well maybe except for the one that was sunk and repowered with 100 Hp Yanmars.

This one here appears to be a great example to fix up at this price and maybe even functional as is.

While is still promote the thought of boats is .... "a good deal is not a cheap deal and a cheap deal is not a good deal"....

here we may have a good start for someone that wants a lower priced project.

$1.33 / pound - cheaper then shopping at the grocery store.

My 38 was in similar shape with lots of deferred upkeep.

Price I paid was okay not great but not bad for the condition. I probably won't make anything on the labor aspect but I have made the boat do what I want it for, used it for 5yrs now and when time comes to sell it should pay me back all the upgrade costs and not suffer any depreciation.

I won't kid anyone - it is a lot of work to do it this way but for me with my skillset it works.

If it works well for you that is all that counts, ever.

I can say that my skill sets work well with the larger boats we have owned as well, even with the smaller ones.

Also have pretty meticulous records of dollars spent since keeping track of these with spreadsheets the past 15+ years - before that paper.

It is an eye opener to see just the hard costs (not my labor) on each of the boats.

Never have we seen so many larger Bayliners (45/47) for sale in this area before at one time - NY , NJ, Ct, upstate NY.

There is more than a dozen now which is unusual but nothing at twice this price.

It's an interesting market and very hard for someone looking from the outside to be able to weigh all the condition factors.

These Bayliners offer phenomenal potential value.
