    Propeller pitch-gctid399751

    Hi all Bayliner frends.

I am om à 4 week trip in My 3288

I gjort the 150 Hinos in My Boat and its one of the slower 3288

I usely do not run My engins so fast, if i am in à hurry istoppa att 2800 rpm ( i can get it upp to 3100 then the thorell do not go anny longer)

Anny way. Att 1500 rpm i go 8kots i think.

Yaster day i run at 2900 rpm. The boat did 13,5 kots

Then i try to run at 3000 rpm an the boat did 14,5 kots.

À hole knot by adding only 100 rpm

Do you think i can run cheepr by rundning faster? And chud i go fot an Athen propeller pitch?

My Boat hass an hull extention by allmost 3 feer.

And it runns on four blade 17x15 propellers.

Is it crasy to go fot 17x17

Not sure what size my props are but I have a 1989 3288 with 135 hp turbo diesels. I run at 2500 rpm at about 18 knots. I didn't see any mention of trim tabs. As I get up to cruise speed drop my trim tabs down to about 50% which gets the boat up on plane. Without using trim tabs my boat will not get on plane and therefor not go over about 13 knots. also make sure you don,t over trim or the boat will handle like a brick. Hope this helps

My Boat has an hulextention. An only 2 trimlabel.

The boat planer at 10 kots (chee let water go from The stern at 10 kots)

The trim labet i beredd full down ( all 4 ) befor the hull extention) but know they do nothing om the speeed. But i usely rum them 50% down ( onliy ghot 2)

The engin dont sound like it work hard, so i think it will work whid 17x16,5 ore 17x17

I ghot flybridge extention, genny, davit. Chee ways all most 17000 lbs

If I remember correctly you have the disel motors correct? If that is true then 3100 RPM would be max and best cruise would be around 2600 RPM. When you did your refit did you put in boost or Pyrometer (exhaust gas temp) guages?

When you did your hull extension did you make it flat with the bottom of the hull? If so every 1' back from transom is equal to 1" of "lift." The water that normally comes off of the transom and then lifts back to teh level of static water provides the "lift" on teh extension so your tabs should be used to balance the boat port or starboard.

I would put some gauges on the motors before you change the props. I used jut the water temp and RPM and seriously overloaded my motors and I did some rebuild on them as a result.

        Good luck

          Hi.

I have diesel engines. I am very happy with the hull extension, and I use tabs for balancerin. but i believe it draws a little less fuel if the bow is pressed a little more down, propeller shaft should get a better angle.

I think My boat works harder at 2600 rpm then 2800 rpm. If i get an ather propeller pitch maby 2600 Will be à Hood cruse speed.

Chee runs Werner smord in the water at 14-15 . But to day i need to run full trotset to get ther.

Do you mind if I ask:

              1. Under what loading conditions (fuel, water, other) are you operating to hit 18 knots at 2500 RPM?

              2. What speed do you reach at rated RPM of 3000?

              3. I assume you have 360 Hurth transmissions as well. True?

              Thanks, Dean

A knot is about 1 1/6 (1.15) MPH so the statement of 18 knots is about 20.7 MPH. My boat must be slow-and I know it's over-propped. I was just curious given that was at 2500 RPM...
