    Cost to rebuild turbo charger?-gctid824001

Upon discovering an oil leak under my motor I traced it back up to what I believe is the turbocharger . I did a light amount of research on rebuilding a turbo charger for a car and I found it to be about $450 for the average auto turbo rebuild. This is different it's a man 610 engine. Anybody have experience?

    Thanks,
    Joe

Call Alamo in Kent, Wa for an estimate, for Hino 310s several years ago, it was over $1000.

Your turbo's are much larger than a car or the typical Hino/Cummins turbo so many injection shops that handle these will not be prepared to service them. As such the pricing will be much larger as well so supplying the price for our past 310 Hino turbo's will not help much. We used "precision diesel service' in Long Island ny but I know they cannot handle tie larger units when balancing the assemblies. The boat we are familiar with that has the 610 Manns utilized this place a while back (maybe 3 yrs). They R & R'd the tubo's themselves and sent them in for service while on the hard in Fla.

I just had one done this spring for a Hino 220. It looked awful when removed and I doubted it could be rebuilt, but Alamo in Kent, WA did it in about a week for about $985 (including tax), It works perfectly.

I used diamond diesel in Oakland to rebuild both of our turbos. They were supposedly completely gone thru for about $1200 each. One had to be redone later. After a lot of other trouble shooting we subsequently learned that one of my housings was way out of tolerance and should have been condemned, not rebuilt. They made it right in the end but it still cost me a lot of time, money and aggravation. I wish I would have just bought new. New was about $1800 each from tony Athens for our Cummins 370's.
