    Hino Alternator-gctid822559

Do anyone know what the function of that little cylinder hanging off the alternator on Hino-135 is? The one on my starboard engine has the wire separated on the red cap end. There is no connector under that red cap, is it hard wired. It still seems to be charging ok.

I'm probably incorrect, but I believe that is an aftermarket part designed to reduce radio interference coming from the alternator. I looked at the parts schematics and while the condenser is shown that part is not. I have something similar that a PO installed on my 175's. Earl, the Bayliner Guru told me I didn't need them.

    That's my story....

That makes sense, the alternator seem to be working OK, I will not bother fixing these, Thanks.
