How often do you bottom paint, and what should I budget?-gctid822209

Hey everyone. I just bought a 1999 3055. The boat seems to have been kept in great shape, but there are a few things I know I'll need to do. One of those is addressing the bottom paint. How long does bottom paint typically last? I understand there are three kinds and that will have a big impact, but in general, how often are you painting yours? He told me the paint that is on there is a season and a half old, so I'm guessing I should think about it.

Also, what do I need to budget to get it done?

Mostly it depends on where you are, how many coats of what were applied and moor. On my 2950 I used one coat of a high speed ablative every 18 months or so and that matched with time to change my zincs. That boat was in the brackish water of the Snohomish River in Everett, WA. Just an example.

My old 2855 is about the same size as your 3055. I had it hauled, power washed, sanded well and two coats of Seahawk AF-33 applied. For me, the cost of hauling, washing, blocking and lay time on the hard and dropping back in the drink is equal to the cost of the prep and coating. All up it was about $1200.

I usually do it every other season in March.
