Replaced part# SAE J1171 Marine fuel pump with a 'JDMSPEED New Electric Fuel Pump Mercury Mercruiser Boat' From amazon that appears to be defect since we cant seem to get it to pump. Was told the Sierra Part# 18-8868 was the replacement part. Was also told I did not have to purchase a $200+ fuel pump but instead go to a local parts house and pick up a non marine L electric fuel pump for a 5.7L. Has anyone purchased a car/truck fuel pump for a 5.7L if so do you have a part# that worked for you?? Any help with this would be awesome!!! Thanks!!

Do not install a non marine fuel pump. Not safe not coastguard approved not legal. Check your power leads to see if you have power to them. Don't forget low oil pressure switch shuts off fuel pump electrically.

The generic pump is suppose to be marine rated. Turn the key on we have power on the connecter leading into the fuel pump. If this is the case shouldn't the fuel pump be kicking on?
