Canadian golf Islands air-quality - smoke?-gctid820474
Just popped up to a lookout point and took this photo. Thats the Tsawwassen ferry terminal about 3/4 mile away. Would normally see Galiano Island directly across from there.

We are at Ganges. The smoke in the air hampers visibility but other than that no issues. The sun is an orange ball hours before sunset and it is cooler than it would be without the smoke in the air.
We're up at Hornby Island north of Nanaimo. It's hazy definitely, maybe I'm just used to it now but it's not a big deal. No ash on the boat at this point. I would proceed with your plans unless you have bad asthma. Not sure if the coming wind shift will help or make it worse.

It sounds like it is better that what we encountered two years ago. At that time we were at a buoy at Newcastle Island and woke up to a boat covered in gray ash. Here's a photo we took in the middle of the day. Those are not low clouds; it is smoke. We finally decided to head back south and found clear skies at Ladysmith.
