2 Week Trip to Gulf Islands and San Juans-gctid818723

Thought i'd share a few details of my two week trip in the new to me 5788.

for those of you that are interested, I started a blog at www.seattleboater.com where I will post more pics and more details I plan to keep tabs on what I spend on the boat, and all details I can get the time to share, so feel free to check it out.

Left Seattle and stopped off at Kingston, $900 of Diesel later and she was full. we made good time from there to Port townsend where we planned to stay for one night. ended up being there for 3 nights (not a bad place to get stuck) as I had to replace a broken starter motor, more details on www.seattleboater.com

All fixed and today we left early for Sidney Marina in BC, It's such a glorious day, super hot and the strait was flat as could be. we made it there in around 3 hours and checked in, had a little interesting challenge at the Customs dock, more details on the blog, but we made it and now typing from the bow in the marina in the stinking hot sun. it's a tough life.

I'll share pics and more as it happens, but please check out the blog, if I get some traffic I might just actually stick to it :-)

We're planning a similar cruise in the next few weeks going north to the Gulf Islands and Vancouver. I fuel up in Ballard where I thougt diesel was less expensive. Kingston seems like it may be even less so. Where in Kingston? Thanks for the blog. Will stay tuned.

Love the blog, buddy... keep the info flowing... Hopefully, you don't have any more surprises like the starter any time soon..

Sure would be fun to plan a trip north with some of the members someday.

Oh btw... if you run low on fuel before your trek home and are in Anacortes, you can order a tank truck to fuel you from shore... it takes a little planning, but the last I did that, I saved a ton!! I think the average at the time as about 2 something a gallon and the tank truck was only 1.35. I think I had to guess how many gallons I needed, which I was about 600, and. I think there was a minimum, but it wasn't too big of deal...just a thought for another adventure... :P

I hope you guys have safe travels...

Great blog! We're in LaConner, heading to Friday Harbor later today. Then Roche, Sidney, Victoria and more. Great idea to write a blog.

Rob. Give us a shout if you see us.

Funny that there is a 4087 called morning glory that we saw in PT then in Sidney and then nowin Friday Harbor. Small world.

BJ the file trucknsoinds like a great money saver. I have heard about that before. But not looked into it. Will have a look that cheap I could afford to give her a bit more beans on the water. (Translation- go a bit quicker )

Updated he blog with a few more pics and details.

Enjoyed your blog! I looked at your boat when it was for sale in Gig Harbor. Your stories are making me wish I would have bought it myself. The PO sounded like he was quite a character. It's a good name but I don't recall "lucky dog" on it. I take it you renamed it?

Nice to see what boating in the PNW is like! I've been pondering a website/blog for the Chesapeake since most of those I find online are from sailboat cruisers.

Just posted a little update on Vashon. Was a fun adventure with us taking bikes for the first time on the tender.
